Nicholas Sheumack is a managing director and head of the M&A and capital markets activities of Lazard Middle Market’s Financial Institutions Group. With more than 15 years of advisory experience, Mr. Sheumack has focused on advising public and private companies in the depository and diversified (non-depository) sectors including banks, asset and wealth management firms, securities broker-dealers, investment banks, exchanges, insurance companies, real estate investment trusts, business development companies, specialty finance, and financial technology firms. He has extensive capital markets experience advising clients on the issuance of debt, hybrid and equity securities in private placements, initial public offerings and follow-on offerings.

Prior to joining Lazard Middle Market, Mr. Sheumack oversaw the Diversified Finance investment banking effort at Sandler O’Neill + Partners, LP. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, an investment bank specializing in the financial sector. While at KBW, he founded, built and led the Diversified Finance (non-depository) coverage group within investment banking, as well as the Financial Sponsor Advisory Group.

Mr. Sheumack holds a Master of Business Administration from the Fordham University Graduate School of Business, where he was President of the Student Advisory Council, founding member of the Fordham Investment Fund and editor of the Fordham Business Review. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Middle Tennessee State University.
